How Do I Set Up SoftLINK to Run in a Microsoft Terminal Server Environment

Download PDF:  KB0022

Summary
Beginning with SoftLINK v10.50, there is a new quick and easy method for installing and using SoftLINK in a Terminal Server Environment. From this version on, the Client is no longer started as an application when each Terminal Server Session is started. Instead, the SoftLINK Service installed on the Microsoft Terminal Server will spawn a new Client Process for each new Terminal Server Sessions started.

Furthermore, this means that it is no longer required to run the Terminal Server Configuration Utility to use SoftLINK in a Terminal Server Environment.

When SoftLINK v10.50 is installed on a Terminal Server machine, only the Base port for the Client and the Client Name will need to be configured.

It also is no longer required to configure the SoftLINK Tutor to Browse a Specific IP address and Port Range to find the Clients running in the Terminal Server sessions. By using the new connect to Room option or the Connect to known list option, the Tutor will be able to Browse and locate the Clients running in the Terminal Server sessions.
